Flat roofs
Flat roofs in Stockport
EPDM rubber and GRP fibreglass roofs on extensions, garages and dormers. Every quote comes with photos of what we found, so you can see the problem for yourself.
What the job involves
A flat roof done properly, from the deck up
A flat roof is never completely flat. It needs a gentle fall so rain runs off to the gutter, a sound deck underneath and a waterproof layer that is sealed at every edge, upstand and outlet. When one of those goes wrong, water finds its way in.
Lee and a small crew start by getting up on the roof and having a proper look. We check the covering, the edges, the trims and the deck where we can. Then we send you photos of what we found with the quote, so you know exactly what you are paying for and why.
Some roofs only need a repair. Others have reached the point where a new covering is the sensible choice. We will tell you which, and show you the evidence.

When people call us
Signs your flat roof needs looking at
Flat roofs tend to give warnings before they fail badly. If you spot any of these, it is worth getting someone up there.
Leaks or damp patches
Stains on the ceiling under an extension or garage, or drips after heavy rain, usually mean water is getting through the covering or an edge.
Water sitting on top
Puddles that are still there days after rain point to a poor fall or a dip in the deck. Standing water wears a roof out faster.
Cracked or lifting felt
Older felt roofs crack, blister and pull away at the edges with age and weather. Once that starts, repairs often only buy a little time.
New or re-covered roofs
Replacing a tired roof on an extension, garage or dormer, or covering a new one, is a chance to choose a modern rubber or fibreglass finish.
The two systems we fit
EPDM rubber or GRP fibreglass
Both make a hard-wearing, watertight flat roof. Which suits yours depends on the size, shape and how the roof is used. We will talk it through with you when we quote.
EPDM rubber
A single sheet of synthetic rubber, cut to size and bonded to the deck, with neat trims at the edges. Because it often goes down in one piece, there are very few joins for water to find.
- Flexible, so it copes with movement
- Few or no seams on most roofs
- Clean, plain finish
GRP fibreglass
Glass fibre matting laid in resin over the deck, then finished with a coloured topcoat. It sets into one solid, seamless layer, shaped neatly around corners and upstands.
- Hard surface once it has cured
- Seamless across the whole roof
- Moulded edges and details
