New roofs
New roofs in Stockport
Full re-roofs in slate or tile, done by Lee and a small crew. Every quote comes with photos of what we found on your roof.
What a re-roof means
A new roof, from the rafters up
A re-roof is more than new slates or tiles on top. The old covering comes off, the timbers underneath get checked, and the roof is built back up with new membrane, battens and your choice of slate or tile. The ridge, hips and any leadwork are finished properly, so the roof works as one piece again.
It is a bigger job than a repair, so we never push it. If a repair will do, we will say so. If the roof has had its day, the photos will show you why.

When it is time
Signs your roof may need replacing
Most roofs give plenty of warning. These are the things we look for when we get up there.
Slates slipping again and again
One slipped slate is a repair. When new ones slide out every few months, the fixings are usually failing across the whole roof.
Leaks that keep coming back
Damp patches in different rooms, or the same patch after every repair, often mean the felt or membrane underneath has broken down.
Daylight in the loft
If you can see light between the slates or tiles from inside the loft, rain and wind can get in the same way.
A dipping or sagging roof line
A roof that looks wavy from the street can point to tired battens or timbers. It needs a proper look before anything else.
Crumbling or flaking tiles
Old tiles and slates wear out with age and frost. When lots of them are cracking or flaking, patching them stops making sense.
Repair after repair
When the repair bills keep stacking up, a new roof can be the better use of your money. We will talk it through honestly.
How the job runs
What happens on a re-roof
Every roof is different, but the work usually follows the same order.

Build it back up
New membrane, battens, slates or tiles, then the ridge, hips and leadwork. We clear up before we go.
Your choice
Slate or tile?
We fit both. The right one usually depends on what your house has now and what suits the street.
A slate roof
Slate is the classic look on older terraces and Victorian houses. It is thin, hard wearing and sits low and neat on the roof. Re-slating keeps the character of the house.
A tiled roof
Tiles are common on semis and newer homes. They come in different shapes and colours, so a new tiled roof can match the houses around you.
