Your trade
Twelve trades to choose from. Vic starts you off with the services and wording that suit yours. You just tweak.
How it works
Many web designers want a deposit before you've seen a thing. Vic builds your homepage first, three ways, and you only pay if you want to keep one.
The walkthrough
One step at a time, on your phone or a computer. Your answers are kept on your device as you go, so a lost signal doesn't lose them.
Twelve trades to choose from. Vic starts you off with the services and wording that suit yours. You just tweak.
Your business name, your name, the phone number customers should ring, and WhatsApp and email if you use them.
Your base town and the towns you happily drive to. Only the first half of your postcode ever shows on your site.
Your services, ready-written for your trade. Change the wording, delete what you don't do, add what's missing. Then a few words about you, your hours and the registrations you actually hold.
Add photos of your work from your phone and your logo if you have one. Vic describes each photo and puts it where it works best. Location data is taken out of every photo.
Six starting looks, your colours (picked from your logo if you have one) and a font. You can change all of it later.
An email address and a password. We email you a 6-digit code to check the address is yours, and Vic gets building.
Free
Vic builds your homepage at all three levels so you can compare them side by side. It's free once per email address. On a very busy day Vic may ask you to come back tomorrow: your answers are saved.
A tidy, standard site of up to 5 pages: home, services, about, your work and contact.
Sharper design and writing, up to 12 pages, including a page for each town you cover, up to 6.
Our best design and writing, up to 30 pages: pages for up to 8 services and 15 towns, questions and prices, and a made-up, illustrated background image if you've no photos (never passed off as your own work).
After you pick one
Pay for the one you picked by card at checkout, with hosting if you want it. For businesses only. Payment is final once your site is built; if Vic can't finish building it, Vic tries again and you get your money back automatically if it still can't.
Your homepage is kept and Vic builds the other pages, usually in a few minutes. If you close the page, Vic carries on and emails you when it's ready.
Click any words or photo to change them, crop photos, drag sections around, add a section from the library (reviews, questions, price list, opening hours and more) or ask Vic. Undo and a full history are always there. Changes you make by hand are free; Vic's changes use Vic's tank.
Before you publish, Vic checks the basics: one main heading per page, photo descriptions, page titles and descriptions, town pages with their own words and anything that still looks like a placeholder. Nothing goes live until you press Publish.
With hosting your site goes live on your own domain or a free address like yourname.onhivis.co.uk, with the padlock and a quote form that sends requests to your inbox. Or download the files any time and put them on any web host.
Every site comes with a full tank: room for about 300 changes from Vic, like a new headline or a new section (a whole new page uses more). The gauge in the editor shows what's left. Running low? £5 adds more room: about 830 changes on Starter, 150 on Pro or 50 on Premium. With hosting, about 30 changes' worth is added every month. Changing words and photos yourself never uses the tank.
Search engines
Vic writes a title and description for every page, your local business details in the format search engines read, clean page addresses, a sitemap and share images, and checks them each time you change something. Nobody honest can promise you a spot on Google, and we don't.
Seeing your homepage costs nothing, and there's nothing to cancel.
