Terms and conditions

Last updated 19 October 2026

In plain English: seeing your homepage three ways is free. You pay once for the one you pick, and payment is final once your site is built (if we can't build it, you get your money back automatically). Hosting is optional and cancels any time. Your site is yours: download it whenever you like. For businesses only.

1. About us

Hi-Vis is a trading name of Highfold Group Ltd (company number 17521208, registered in England and Wales). Registered office: Office 21848, 182-184 High Street North, East Ham, London, E6 2JA. When you use Hi-Vis (hivissites.co.uk) or buy from us, your contract is with Highfold Group Ltd. Contact us at hello@hivissites.co.uk.

2. Prices and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling and are the total you pay: nothing is added at checkout. Payments are taken securely by Stripe. If we make an obvious pricing error we'll tell you before going ahead.

3. Who Hi-Vis is for

  • Trades and businesses only. Hi-Vis is for people buying for their trade or business (sole traders included), not for consumers. Because it's a business service, the 14-day consumer cancellation period doesn't apply. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have by law.
  • Your account. Give us accurate details and keep your login safe: you're responsible for what's done with your account. One account looks after one business's site.

4. Your free homepages

  • Free to see. After the walkthrough at /start, and a 6-digit code to confirm your email address, Vic builds your homepage three ways for you to compare. It costs nothing and you don't have to buy anything. It's free once per email address, and on a very busy day Vic may ask you to come back later.
  • Reminders. If you don't pick one, we may email you up to two reminders, about 2 and 7 days later. Tick the box in the walkthrough, or use the link in any reminder, and we'll stop.
  • Tidying up. Homepages you never pick are deleted, with their photos, 90 days after they're built. Unless you've stopped our reminders, we email you 7 days before. An account that has never paid for a site is deleted if nobody signs in to it for 12 months; we email you 14 days before. Otherwise your account stays until you delete it.

5. Buying your site

  • Prices. You pay once for the homepage you pick: Starter £39 (up to 5 pages) / Pro £89 (up to 12 pages) / Premium £179 (up to 30 pages), as described on our prices page. You pay by card at checkout, through Stripe. There are no discount codes.
  • Ordering. To order, pick a homepage, choose hosting or not, check your order and pay at Stripe's checkout; you can go back and change anything before you pay. We email you a confirmation, and your order stays in your account. Our contracts are in English.
  • What happens next. The homepage you picked becomes your site and Vic builds the rest of its pages. Which pages you get depends on your tier and the answers you gave, within the tier's page limit.
  • Payment is final once your site is built. You've seen your homepage before paying, so we don't refund a site once it's built.
  • The other two homepages. When you buy, the two free homepages you didn't pick are deleted.
  • If we can't build it. If Vic can't finish building your site, Vic tries again. If it still can't, we automatically refund everything you paid at checkout (including any hosting paid at the same time), cancel the hosting and email you. A refunded site is closed: the editor and the download go with it. If your homepage is built but some other pages can't be, you keep your site with those pages left out, and we add enough to Vic's tank for Vic to build them again at no cost to you.

6. Vic's tank

  • What it is. Every site comes with an allowance of Vic's work, shown as a fuel gauge: room for about 300 changes, depending on how big they are (a whole new page uses more). Asking Vic for a change, a new section or a new page uses the tank. Changing words and photos yourself in the editor never does.
  • Top-ups. A top-up costs £5, is final once bought and adds more room: about 830 changes on Starter, about 150 on Pro and about 50 on Premium. With hosting, about 30 changes' worth is added to the tank each month you're hosted.
  • It isn't money. The tank can't be cashed in, refunded or moved to another site. When it's empty, Vic stops making changes until it's topped up; everything else keeps working.

7. Hosting

  • Optional. £15 a month or £150 a year, paid by card through Stripe and renewing automatically until you cancel. It includes your site online at a free address (yourname.onhivis.co.uk) or your own domain, the padlock (https), quote requests sent to your email and kept in your account, a monthly visitor report and a monthly top-up for Vic's tank (about 30 changes).
  • Your own domain. You buy and keep your domain at any registrar. We show you the records to add there; once they point at our hosting server, we connect your domain and add its certificate.
  • Cancelling. Cancel any time in your account (Hosting, then Manage billing). Hosting carries on to the end of the month or year you've paid for, and we don't refund part periods.
  • When hosting ends. If hosting is cancelled, or a payment fails and isn't made up, your site stays online for 14 days after the paid period ends, then shows a "temporarily unavailable" page. Your site stays in your account, so you can download the files or switch hosting back on.
  • Price changes. We'll email you at least 30 days before any change to the hosting price, so you can cancel first.
  • Availability. We work hard to keep hosted sites online, but we can't promise they'll never be interrupted. We'll give notice of planned work where we can.
  • Things outside our control. We're not responsible for delays or interruptions caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as an outage at our hosting company or our AI provider, or a wider internet or power failure. If one delays a build or takes sites offline, we'll put things right as soon as we can.
  • If we stop offering hosting. We'll email you at least 60 days before, refund the part of any yearly hosting you've paid for that you won't get, and keep your site's files ready to download for 90 days after your hosting ends.

8. Your site and your content

  • It's yours. You own the words, photos and logo you add. We give you all the rights we have in the site Vic builds for you: it's yours to keep, change and use on any host. The styles, patterns and fonts in your files are yours to use with your site, free and for good (the fonts are under the SIL Open Font Licence). Hi-Vis itself (the walkthrough, the editor, Vic and our software) stays ours.
  • Your right to use it. You confirm you have the right to use everything you upload or ask Vic to use, and that it doesn't break anyone else's rights. You give us permission to store, copy, change, send to our suppliers (including our AI provider) and publish what you upload, only to provide Hi-Vis to you.
  • Check it before you publish. Vic is our automated assistant: your pages, and the changes you ask Vic for, are written by AI models from your answers. They can get things wrong, and you know your business best, so read your site before you publish it and keep it true: prices, registrations, insurance, opening hours, anything else it claims, and the legal details the law requires for your business. Nothing goes live until you press Publish.
  • Background image. On Premium, if you've no photos, Vic can add a made-up (AI-made) illustrated background image. Never present it as a picture of your own work.
  • Reviews. Only add genuine reviews from real customers, copied faithfully, and don't leave out the bad ones to mislead. Vic never writes reviews. We may remove any review we believe breaks the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.
  • The credit line. Sites built with Hi-Vis carry a small "Website by Hi-Vis" link in the footer. You can switch it off in the editor's settings.
  • No promises about Google. Vic writes the search basics into every page, but we can't promise rankings, visitors or enquiries.

9. Acceptable use, checks and takedowns

Don't use Hi-Vis for anything unlawful or misleading. No site may offer illegal goods or services or weapons; show adult or sexual content; be a scam or ask for money or personal details under false pretences; pretend to be another business or person; show fake reviews, ratings, accreditations or qualifications; copy other people's words, photos or designs without permission; or contain hate, harassment or threats. Don't try to break, overload or misuse the service, and don't resell it without our written agreement.

  • The content check. When you press Publish, your site's text is checked automatically. Clear breaches are blocked and we email you why; if you think we've got it wrong, reply and a person at Hi-Vis will look at it. Anything unclear waits for a person to look at it before it goes live.
  • Takedowns. We may refuse to host a site, or take a hosted site down, if it breaks these rules or the law, or after a well-founded complaint (for example about copyright). If we take your site down for breaking these rules, we end its hosting at once and stop charging for it (the rest of the period you've paid for isn't refunded), and we email you why. If you think we've got it wrong, reply to that email and a person at Hi-Vis will look at it again.
  • Reporting a site. Anyone can report a site we host through our contact page.

10. Data we process for you

When visitors send quote requests through a site we host, you are the controller of that personal data and we act as your processor under UK GDPR Article 28. These terms are our contract for that processing.

  • What, why and for how long. The names, email addresses, phone numbers, postcodes and job details your site's visitors send, about people asking about your work. We process them to deliver each request to you by email (up to 20 an hour; any more wait in your account, up to 200 a day) and keep it in your account, for as long as you have an account. We don't email the person who sent it. Quote requests are deleted automatically 2 years after they arrive. We also count visits to your hosted site from our hosting server's logs, without keeping IP addresses.
  • Your instructions. We process this data only on your documented instructions (these terms and the way you set up and use your site), including for any transfer outside the UK, unless the law requires otherwise, in which case we'll tell you first if the law allows. We'll tell you straight away if we think an instruction breaks data protection law.
  • Confidentiality and security. Everyone who can access the data is bound by confidentiality, and we protect it with appropriate technical and organisational measures (UK GDPR Article 32), including encrypted connections, access controls and backups.
  • Sub-processors. You give us general permission to use the sub-processors named in our privacy policy for this data: our hosting company (which runs our main server and the separate server your site is published on) and, if we use one, our off-site backup company. We'll tell you by email before we add or replace one, so you can object; if we can't resolve your objection, you can close your account. Each sub-processor is bound by the same data protection obligations as we are, and we remain responsible to you for its work.
  • Helping you. We'll help you answer requests from people exercising their rights, and help you meet your duties on security, breach notification, data protection impact assessments and consulting the ICO, taking into account what we process and the information we have.
  • Breaches. We'll tell you without undue delay after becoming aware of a personal data breach affecting this data, with the information you need to meet your own obligations.
  • At the end. When you delete your account we delete this data straight away (it then leaves our backups as our privacy policy describes), unless the law requires us to keep it. Ask us before you delete and we'll send you a copy.
  • Information and audits. We'll give you the information you reasonably need to show that these obligations are met, and allow for and contribute to audits and inspections by you or an auditor you appoint, on reasonable notice.

11. Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself in your account settings. That deletes your site, its earlier versions, your photos and its quote requests straight away, takes your published pages off our hosting server, and cancels any hosting (the rest of the period isn't refunded). Download your files first if you want to keep them.

Cancellations and refunds

See our refunds and cancellations policy, which repeats these rules in one place.

Our liability

We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable. Nothing limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that can't legally be limited. Because Hi-Vis is a business service, our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, and we're not liable for lost profit, revenue or business opportunity.

Complaints

If something's gone wrong, email hello@hivissites.co.uk and we'll aim to resolve it within 14 days.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when the law or our service changes. We'll change the date above and, for changes that affect what you've bought or your hosting, email you before they apply.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you're based in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
